Overcoming Unhealthy Habits

Each and one of us has their own story of overcoming their unhealthy habits.

In one point in our lives, there is that realization when we would say “enough is enough.” We wanted something different and not something that would further bring us down. We all have our unhealthy habits that give us “comfort” in this crazy world. However, these habits do more damage to our physical and emotional state. ¬†When you realize this, you’d be willing to fight off these baddies in a heartbeat. This is my story.

I was your ordinary gal who likes shopping and traveling. Everything was bliss until I succumbed to depression because of a heartbreak. (A bit cliche but yeah, it happened.) I was young and I didn’t know how to move on with my feelings. I was seeking for comfort and then, I found what I was looking for in eating food. Not just any food though. I’m talking about the high-calorie hamburgers, pizza, fries and any fast food you could imagine. I had a part-time job so, I had some finances to “nurture” my deadly habit.

One day, I felt sick and I had the chance to reflect on my lifestyle. When I looked at the mirror, I saw someone different. My self-esteem plummeted to the ground as I saw the result of my actions. From there on, I vowed to make some changes and never let my emotions get the best of me.

Getting good health is a battle and the worst enemy that you’ll encounter is yourself. If you tell yourself that you can’t do it then chances are, you’d never reach your intended goals. You need to condition your mind and set your heart into making positive changes in your life.
